On Sunday (April 5 - 2026), a special meeting was organized by the Bangladesh Outbound Tour Operators Association (BOTOA) at the Hotel Bengal Inn in the capital, with the aim of strengthening the tourism relations between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. The meeting was held in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and SriLankan Airlines.

Present at the meeting were Mr. Buddhika Hewawasam, Chairman of SLTPB, Ms. Shirani Herath, Assistant Director for South Asia, Mr. Fauzan Farid, Manager for South Asia, SriLankan Airlines, members of the Bangladesh delegation, and the officials from BOTOA including President Syed Golam Mohammad, Senior Vice President Mo. Mohsin Iqbal, Vice President A.K.M. Kamruluzzaman, Director of Trade & Fair Mohammad Shahadat Rashid, Director Robin Lal, General Secretary Mohammad Shariful Islam, and Advisor Toufiq Rahman.

The discussions centered on enhancing tourism cooperation, promoting outbound tourism, and strengthening tourism initiatives between the two countries. The hope is that such efforts will help better integrate Bangladesh's tourism sector with international standards.
